1. The service
Pingstead (“the service”) checks whether websites answer, from several locations, and watches their TLS certificates and domain registrations for expiry. “We” and “us” mean the operator of the service; “you” means the person who holds an account.
What the service does is described on the features page. We may change, add or remove features; when a change takes away something you use, we will announce it on this website before it happens.
2. Your account
You need an account to use the service. Give an email address you control and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. An account is for one person or one organisation.
3. Your sites and URLs
Add only sites you run or are allowed to monitor by the people who run them. You are responsible for the URLs you add and for the requests our checks send to them.
We may refuse a site, stop checking it or remove it when its owner asks us to, when it breaks our acceptable use policy, or when checking it would harm others.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to our acceptable use policy. In short: monitor, do not attack; do not try to reach networks or data you are not allowed to; do not get around the limits of your plan.
5. Plans and price
The service is free. The limits of the free plan are on the pricing page and are enforced by the service. We take no payment and ask for no payment details.
If we offer paid plans in the future, their price and terms will be shown before you can buy one, and nothing will be charged without your explicit purchase. See the refund policy.
6. What the results mean
Results show what our checking servers saw at the time of each check. Networks between our locations and your site, firewalls and our own systems can make a check fail or pass when a visitor’s experience differs. We mark the failures we know are ours, but we cannot promise that every outage is detected or that every result is correct.
The service sends no alerts today. Do not rely on it as your only way to learn that your site is down.
7. Availability
We work to keep the service running but do not promise any level of availability. We may interrupt it for maintenance or when needed for security.
8. Liability
The service is free and provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data arising from your use of the service or from results it shows.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
9. Ending
You can delete your account at any time in your account settings; your sites, URLs and their history are deleted at once.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it is safe to do so, we will tell you why first.
10. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we publish the new version here with its date. If a change affects you significantly, we will announce it on this website before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, you can delete your account.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus. This does not take away the protection that the law of your country of residence gives you as a consumer.
