1. What the service is for
Checking whether websites you run, or are allowed to monitor by the people who run them, answer and how fast, and watching their certificates and domains for expiry.
2. What is not allowed
You may not use the service, or try to use it:
- to check sites against the wishes of the people who run them;
- to attack, overload or test the limits of any system, or as a load-testing tool;
- to reach private networks, internal addresses or cloud metadata services, or to get around the checks that prevent this;
- to add URLs whose request causes an action — such as an unsubscribe, a purchase or a one-time link;
- to get around the limits of your plan, for example with several accounts, or to create accounts automatically;
- to probe, scan or attack Pingstead itself, or to interfere with other users.
3. Site owners
A site owner can ask us to stop checking their domain at any time; see how our checks behave. We then stop the checks of that domain by every account, and it cannot be added again.
4. What we do about misuse
We may stop checking a site, suspend or close an account, or block a domain when we see misuse or receive a credible report. Where it is safe to do so, we tell the account holder why. We may report illegal activity to the authorities.
5. Reporting misuse
Write to the address under “Contact” at the end of this page: name the domain and, if you can, the time and the User-Agent you saw in your logs.
6. Contact
